What I Wore

Get excited, another post! After a week of not having time, I'm catching up on all my posting. I went to a Jodi Arnold Trunk show this morning, this is what I wore.
Dress, Target
Sweater, Target
Shoes, Payless
Belt, XXI
Watch, Fossil
I had some hair issues this morning, I got this big bump on the side, I had to go back and fix that.
The trunk show was ok, the clothes were gorgeous but definitely out of my budget. We thought we were going to be able to meet Jodi Arnold the designer, but we just got a glimpse of her as she walked by. They were busy doing a run through for the fashion show tonight.

Wedding Bells!

Friday night, I had to meet up with Anna at J's apartment to get them ready for a wedding! Anna had some sort of Law day thing all day and she even had to leave early because the  law day ended at 5:30 and the wedding was at 6.

So I had to be called in to get these two ready for the wedding...
Anna and J
J is wearing a Michael Kors suit from Men's Designer Outlet in Miami.
In less than an hour I had to get Anna ready: showered, hair touched up, dressed and made up...  I am turning into an expert at getting people ready in short amounts of time... remember when I went to that Mardi Gras coronation with less than an hours notice?
Dress Macy's London Times, Shoes Target 2010, Bracelet F21, Earrings Franchesca's
I think she turned out pretty well, had we had more time I would have tired to do a mini bee hive or something retro to match the vintage vibe of the dress, but we settled for straight.
My big Sis and Me
For her makeup I did a simple look using an Ulta palette (it contains: White, Light Pink, Dark Pink and Brown). I have been doing this makeup look a lot for myself lately, simple yet dramatic eyes (I'll have to post it sometime).
Anyways, I sent them off with minutes to spare! I got them out the door and managed to take pictures with plenty of time to get to the wedding.

BTWs, I am wearing a dress from Old Navy I got it on sale, right before I left for the beach, for like $10!

Sandy, Baby

Look at me! Already hard at work on my birthday goals! I have an outfit post... I finally remembered to take pictures before work. I felt like Sandy at the end of Grease in this outfit. Even though we are well into the heat wave that is summer... today it was 97 degrees, I had enough of wearing my shorts and decided to go with my jeggings for work. (This pair is more jean than legging.) And I don't know what is is about my camera or the blazing sun but the wash on the jeans doesn't have that much contrast and my hair isn't that red.
Old Navy shirt, Hydrualic Jeggings, Blowfish Shoes, Fossil sunglasses, F21 Necklace, Kate Landry purse
I'm even wearing one of my fabric flowers in gold! Don't forget to enter the giveaway so you can get your own!

It Just Needs a Little Revamp

When I'm shopping sometimes, I'll find something that I like but I would have done it a little differently. I know I could fix things up or change them up someway, but I don't want to spend a lot and then accidently break it or do some irreversible damage to it and have wasted my hard earned money.
But shopping in F21 today I found these really neat earrings.

I love the turqouise color... because right now I am def all about that color. And I think they have that art deco-y/ vintage costumey feel.  I really liked them, but on top of them being big, they have these super long chains. Like the chain rests on my shoulder... way too long.

Now I can pull off the big earring, but the chain is a little much. I said to self, I can fix this up... So being from F21, they are cheap. At only $6.80, I don't mind causing them irreversible harm because I wouldn't be out of a whole lot of money.

Found myself some needle nose pliers and went to town.
What do you think? I'm a little obsessed with them myself... Have you ever done a little revamp?

FYI: I LOVE RUFFLES

I don't know if you know this fact...  it should be pretty much common knowledge. But if you happened to not know... I LOVE ruffles!

I don't really know what it is about them, but it is love. And as midterms and busy bee-ness is winding down, I am starting to get back to the interwebs of fashion again. And I was hungrily taking in notcot this evening and came upon this amazing ruffled skirt!

The Precious Skirt in Electric Blue by Katy Rodriguez, $785,  is so gorg, it is truly to die for. The full ruffles and the amazing color!

I think it may just be the luscious romantic nature of the ruffle that I love so much. They remind you of an old love story.

And while I am in love with this skirt... its price tag is anything but LOVE for a fashionista on a budget... so I did a little browsing... Trying to find something anything, that could live up to Katy Rodriguez's skirt but on a budget and I only found some sad attempts. Nothing that would live up to the amazing volume or color of this skirt...

But here are the ruffly fruits of my skirt search:

First, I have the Strata dress from ModCloth $199.99
-I have mixed feelings about this dress, I am not sure if I like it or not. The thing that caught me about it, was how structured the top looks with its knife pleats it looks almost like armor then you get to the skirt and its full and voluminous with soft ruffles.

Second, I have the Plum-struck dress, also from ModCloth $72.99
- I like this dress for its awesome color, and the ruffles it featured aren't perfect, they are young and flirtatious, different, much like those seen in the inspiration skirt.

For a fun skirt I found this on from Forever 21, for $13.80.
- I think the peplum gives it something fun and young, though not nearly as amazing as the original skirt.

And for a classic look, inspired by this offbeat skirt, I found this AMAZING dress from J Crew
Ruffled Edelyn Lawn Dress, which was $118, but is now $98
- in Shadow of course, I think it captures the softer, classic romantics of ruffles in a very prim and proper way

But in life news, I have been drawing figures and clothes in class, its so much fun yet stressful at the same time. And as i mentioned earlier midterms are pretty much done although mine spread out for like two weeks, but anyways school is starting to simmer down, so start to expect more posts from me!

Nail Polish of (last) Week, Among other things

So, where have I been? School mainly, I have had projects due and tests, and my T.V. shows are starting back up... and I follow many. Football games on the weekends, and I actually slept till 2 p.m. last sunday.  But I am trying to get back to my norm!

But anyways... I had an awesome nail color last week! I did OPI's Flashbulb Fuchsia, and I loved it its purply pink and made me happy all week long.

And it was rainy  all last week... and during the foot ball game... So I got to go out in style, in a poncho... very cute...

Today, I wore a color block dress which I got from Old Navy for only $15I wore my gold XXI heart necklace and some pink flats.

When I got home from school, I played with the dogs in the backyard, which explains the tennis ball in my hand... here is Dasiy...

Ruffles and Hearts

School starts in a few weeks, and I am trying to get together clothes to wear to class. While shopping I have to be aware of the extreme heat and humidity I have to trek through to get to class. I found this great top at Old Navy. I decided it would look really cute paired with a ribbed tank underneath. So I went to Old Navy today with my friends and found both and it only cost me about $15.

But for classes this semester I am thinking lots of shorts and breezy cotton shirts that breathe! Its always so hot on campus and all the parking lots are far away from the buildings so lots and lots of walking in the heat.

Style tip: When layering tank tops, buy the bottom layer a size bigger than your size and the top layer your normal size. If you do this your layers will stand out more.

In the picture is my Heart necklace from Forever 21 and my new OPI nail polish in Russian Navy.

Fashionable and Fit

So, a few weeks ago I bought this skirt from Forever21. It just doesn't quiet fit right. But, I really liked this skirt too much to return it, so I decided to give myself a challenge. Since, I need to lose some pounds anyways... I am giving myself a goal-- fit into this skirt. I am guessing it would take me about 20lbs. So my goal is lose 20lbs and I would get to wear my skirt! So, I am going to say 20 lbs in 2 months? So lets see if I can fit into this skirt by October 10...

It's 10 lbs a month, 2.5lbs a week... I think I can do it... I hope I can do it. It's not just for the skirt its for me but I think the skirt is an awesome incentive.

XXI

The First time I walked into the Forever 21 store at the mall near my house, I hated it! It was way too big and unorganized, the lighting was too bright and music too loud… and I am a firm believer that the ambience of a store directly affects your shopping experience. So needless to say, I didn’t even want to go in there. But a few weeks ago my friend Rhonda told me that XXI was coming out with a Plus-sized line, Faith 21.

A plus-sized line… Trendy clothes that would fit me?!?!?! That’s like unheard of, so of course I had to check it out. But I could not set foot into the actual store… so off to Forever21.com.

I really like the website, its easy to use and they update all the time so its so much more practical to shop online rather than making a trip to the mall every other day.  And their shipping is pretty fast, it comes free with a $75 purchase, which I usually get, and if you don’t like something that you have bought on line, you can return it to the store.

So with my need for cute plus-sized clothing and my love of online shopping, I was easily drawn into the whole Forever 21 craze… sad and hypocritical, I know.

I have always found trouble finding cute and casual dresses, so the bulk of my Forever 21 buying comes in the form of dresses. The only problem with them though is the fact that they are really short so you most likely have to wear leggings with them.

Vanna Pleated Dress in Purple $22.80

  • Which I have paired grey leggings with, which looked really cute!

Abstract Ikat Halter Dress $19.80

  • I am going to put a colored tank under this one so that I can wear it to work

Keisha Surplice Dress $22.80

I also got some cute shirts from Forever 21

Floral Flutter top $17.80

Dolman Dress w/belt

I also got some cute Jewelry from Forever 21 but I think I will save those for another post.

Much love!
