Wedding Bells!

Friday night, I had to meet up with Anna at J's apartment to get them ready for a wedding! Anna had some sort of Law day thing all day and she even had to leave early because the  law day ended at 5:30 and the wedding was at 6.

So I had to be called in to get these two ready for the wedding...
Anna and J
J is wearing a Michael Kors suit from Men's Designer Outlet in Miami.
In less than an hour I had to get Anna ready: showered, hair touched up, dressed and made up...  I am turning into an expert at getting people ready in short amounts of time... remember when I went to that Mardi Gras coronation with less than an hours notice?
Dress Macy's London Times, Shoes Target 2010, Bracelet F21, Earrings Franchesca's
I think she turned out pretty well, had we had more time I would have tired to do a mini bee hive or something retro to match the vintage vibe of the dress, but we settled for straight.
My big Sis and Me
For her makeup I did a simple look using an Ulta palette (it contains: White, Light Pink, Dark Pink and Brown). I have been doing this makeup look a lot for myself lately, simple yet dramatic eyes (I'll have to post it sometime).
Anyways, I sent them off with minutes to spare! I got them out the door and managed to take pictures with plenty of time to get to the wedding.

BTWs, I am wearing a dress from Old Navy I got it on sale, right before I left for the beach, for like $10!

And the Winner is...

Amanda Grace!

Sandy, Baby

Look at me! Already hard at work on my birthday goals! I have an outfit post... I finally remembered to take pictures before work. I felt like Sandy at the end of Grease in this outfit. Even though we are well into the heat wave that is summer... today it was 97 degrees, I had enough of wearing my shorts and decided to go with my jeggings for work. (This pair is more jean than legging.) And I don't know what is is about my camera or the blazing sun but the wash on the jeans doesn't have that much contrast and my hair isn't that red.
Old Navy shirt, Hydrualic Jeggings, Blowfish Shoes, Fossil sunglasses, F21 Necklace, Kate Landry purse
I'm even wearing one of my fabric flowers in gold! Don't forget to enter the giveaway so you can get your own!

Nail Polish of the Week: DIY French

It has been a while since I last did a nail polish of the week. I was wearing Essie's Splash of Grenadine this week but never got a chance to do pictures of it, and it got messed up when I was doing Anna's nails...
Anna has a wedding to go to today, but no time for a manicure... so we tried fake nails. I haven't done fake nails since I was little, and I had those play ones from the dollar store. But mom had heard that these worked well so time for an experiment.
The kit comes with 28 nails in 14 different sizes so its easy to mix and match the sizes, and you can easily use the included file to get the nails down to the perfect size. The easy application tabs, allow you to easily apply the nail and then you can twist them off.
I started off by thoroughly cleaning all nail polish off my nails. I then found the sizes fro all my nails and made sure everything fit, I think I only had to file down one of them down. The kit provides glue which is super strong and you just apply it to the nail then press it down on your own nail.
So far the only thing I don't like about these nails is that some have a few bubbles under them. But overall I like them, I'm not used to having long nails. I am curious to see how they hold up. The box says 7 days we shall see!
Anna, has smaller hands and nails, so for her we got the petite pack, and they look really good too.
So what do you think, have you ever tried fake nails?

One

So it has been a year since I first started The Fashionista Diaries, though I have only actually blogged in 8 out of 12 months. Still I am happy that a year later I am still blogging or at least back to it. I have faith that in the coming year I will stay committed to the blog, continually posting throughout the semester, and hopefully we will further evolve. Some of my evolutionary goals include: (almost) daily outfit posts, more youtube vlogs and tutorials, more projects, more creations, and more styling. With all these hopes, I am very optimistic about the coming year, it almost feels like my own birthday.

Since today is like a new beginning,  I wanted to announce the first step in evolution for the coming year,  the pending opening of my online Etsy store. I have posted about the fabric flower hair pins I have been making, and if you follow my twitter, you know I have been cranking them out. Soon, my lovely followers will be able to get some of my flowers for yourself. I am going to open the store once I get back from vacation next week.

And since today is a celebration, I wanted to do my first giveaway! What else but a fabric flower hairpin, your choice in color.

In order to win, you must be a follower (you can follow through twitter, just let me know how you are following), leave a comment and be a US resident. I will then pick a winner at random on the morning of July 26, the winner will have until July 28 to contact me in order to claim their prize.

It's a Bright Sun Shiny Day

For the past, I don't know maybe 2 years, I have had the same pair of sunglasses... well not the same. But I got one pair at work, which I loved so I ended up buying the box of them...
The Pair

Now I had a few other pairs scattered in the past 2 years, but that style has been my go to. I told myself, once I am done with this pair I am buying myself some nice new shades (maybe not those exactly). If you saw my Smokin' post... you'll know I didn't quite make it. I went to Fossil when I was at the outlets and I got me some new shades.

Shades 2
Anyways, I'm loving my Fossil sunglasses! These sunglasses are super comfortable. I especially love my second pair, those I must say are my favs. For some reason I have become fossil obsessed as of late.
I also got Midge a pair of shades, she had tried these on way back when I got my watch. They had sold out when she went back to get them, but they had them at the outlet! I loved them, and I wanted them for myself, but I must say, they look much better on Midge.
Oh, and Ellie decided to get in on the glasses action... she sported some sparkly glasses...

Oh, and some updates on my projects. I finished the top of the muslin of the dress. I think I'm going to go ahead and make it in some nicer fabric once I get a chance to go to the fabric store.
I was also asked if I was going to make a tutorial for my fabric flowers. I don't know if I will but there will be an opportunity to get your own very soon.

Updates

My new project is coming along a little slower than expected. I worked all morning Saturday, and then it was raining horribly when I got off, so I didn't feel like running to the fabric store across town. I went to Hobby Lobby instead and got a few things....

I made some fabric flowers, which I then attached to a bobby pin and wore in my hair.

Then I started pinning and cutting out my pattern on Sunday, and does that pattern have a ton of pieces. Twenty-eight pieces, to pin down then cut out then mark. So Monday, I finished cutting out everything and marking it. I have been working everyday this week so haven't even started sewing, but tomorrow I have the day off and plan to start it up and hopefully finish.

Seams Like the Very First Time

It feels like forever since I last did a sewing project. When really, last major thing I sewed was my final project from my sewing class in May. I have sewn on a button here or there and hemmed a few things since then. But I have decided to embark on my next great project...

This makes me extremely nervous. I mean I know I can do it, but for some reason this pattern just makes me nervous, I haven't made anything this intensive since my prom dress in high school, like two years ago.

But I will try to start the muslin this weekend and cross my fingers have it done by Monday, if I can get to the fabric store for some supplies. Then I'll embark on the real thing. And if you follow me on twitter @theFASHIONgirl I shall be sure to put updates on how this little project is going.

I also want to make like a cosmetic bag, because I can never find the perfect one... I've never made my own pattern, but I think I know enough about sewing to try. I mean I will be taking pattern making in the fall, might as well start now.
So any readers, care to share any new projects you are embarking on?

It Just Needs a Little Revamp

When I'm shopping sometimes, I'll find something that I like but I would have done it a little differently. I know I could fix things up or change them up someway, but I don't want to spend a lot and then accidently break it or do some irreversible damage to it and have wasted my hard earned money.
But shopping in F21 today I found these really neat earrings.

I love the turqouise color... because right now I am def all about that color. And I think they have that art deco-y/ vintage costumey feel.  I really liked them, but on top of them being big, they have these super long chains. Like the chain rests on my shoulder... way too long.

Now I can pull off the big earring, but the chain is a little much. I said to self, I can fix this up... So being from F21, they are cheap. At only $6.80, I don't mind causing them irreversible harm because I wouldn't be out of a whole lot of money.

Found myself some needle nose pliers and went to town.
What do you think? I'm a little obsessed with them myself... Have you ever done a little revamp?

A Delightful Bouquet

Another result of my hiatus... no one knew I got my dream perfume, Miss Dior Cherie! I had talked about the ad campaign last September and how much I liked it.

Then, I got a bottle of it for christmas. And of course, now, I'm a tad bit obsessed with perfumes.

Anyways, I went awhile with only the Miss Dior Cherie, and I also already had Anna Sui's Sui Dreams.

Then in New York we went to the Juicy Couture store, which was really fun to visit, but it sparked my interest in Juicy Couture's Couture Couture perfume.
I had been stalking the perfume for weeks, and I was about ready to just buy it from Sephora. But then, when I went to the outlets the other day they had a Juicy Couture store which carried the perfume.
When I had been looking at it in Sephora, it was going to cost me $75 plus tax. The perfume at the outlet was on sale so I got it for $56, and it wasn't just the perfume but also the shower gel and lotion, WIN!

Well, I must say Happy Birthday America! I hope everyone had a happy and safe Fourth of July.  After driving home from the beach yesterday, the fam and I just spent the day hanging out and did some hamburgers.
